Sahyadri Hospitals, a leading chain of hospitals in Pune on Thursday launched the city's first ever Public Private Partnership (PPP) hospital taking over the Pune Municipal Corporation-owned Late Draupadabhai Murlidhar Khedekar Hospital (LDMKH) at Bopodi.
The facility will have a speciality trauma centre to be run by Sahyadri Hospitals in Bopodi. While the OPD facility has already been thrown open, the hospital will become fully functional in mid-July.
Sahyadri Hospitals has acquired the hospital on a 10-year lease from the PMS. The facility is about 24,000 sq ft in area with capacity of 101 beds. The hospital is three-storeyed excluding basement and ground level areas.
Keeping in mind the demographics of people living in Bopodi, Sahyadri Hospitals will have subsidized rates to cater to the economically-weaker sections of the society.
"I am overjoyed to announce that this unique Public Private Partnership has finally come of age and we, at Sahyadri Hospitals, are the first to bring it to Pune. Bopodi and its vicinity, which unfortunately didn't have adequate healthcare facilities, will finally have a full-fledged hospital to serve society at large." Sahyadri Hospitals CMD, Dr Charudutt Apte, said.
The OPD, which is located on the ground floor, has a casualty room equipped with X-ray machines, CT scans and pathology labs. The first floor will have blood storage facility, male general ward, female general ward and a paediatric centre.
The second floor will have two operation theatres, one ICU unit equipped with (9 plus 1 bed in case of isolation), ICU waiting room, day care centre and a High Dependency Unit (HDU). The third floor will have special and private rooms. |
